Happy Sant Jordi.
Barcelona is already in full swing: stalls of books and roses, authors signing, streets closed to cars across the centre.
One thing to know this year: La Rambla is under construction, so the action has moved. Roses are centered on Plaça de Catalunya, books on Portal de l'Àngel and around the Cathedral. With kids, the easiest loop is Diagonal down through Portal de l'Àngel. Pick a book, grab a rose, call it a day.
Then Sunday is Barcelona's biggest free family day of spring. Here's the lineup.

A quick camps update
Over 300 families have begun using the guide in the first week. Given the demand, we're adding more camps, building ways to save your work, and lining up offers for our email subscribers, starting with Show Kids, a Broadway-inspired English-language musical theatre camp in Sarrià. Details on all very soon.
Catalunya's strawberry capital throws its 25th annual festival on Sunday, and they're giving out the world's largest strawberry cake for free. Yes, really.

The Rabbit Hole
A hidden garden with a waterfall, a Greek theatre, and nobody on it
If Sant Jordi has you thinking about Barcelona's secret corners, here's one most parents have never set foot in: a stepped Mediterranean garden tucked into Montjuïc between Poble Espanyol and the Olympic stadium.
Inside it: a small waterfall feeding into tiled pools. A stone amphitheater carved into the hillside, perfect for pretend performances. Mosaic benches and shaded paths built in the 1920s for the World's Fair. Cypress trees, orange trees, lemon trees, all in bloom right now.
It's free, open every day, no tickets, no queue. Bring a book from today's stalls and let the kids loose.
